Workshops to focus on Energy, Environment, and Water

Inspired by the abundant agricultural resources in the community, West Shore Community College, in partnership with the Mason County Conservation District, is hosting a series of classes and workshops focused on energy, environment, and water.
Workshop topics will include small scale farming, the environment and conservation, as well as educational tours of the Lakewind Energy Park and Consumers Energy Hydroelectric Pump Storage plant.
Anyone interested in eating locally year-round will learn about taking full advantage of Michigan’s seasons, organic farming, raising backyard chickens, and herbal tea blending. Extending the growing season by using hoop houses will also be covered.
Tours of the Lakewind Energy Park and Consumer’s Energy Hydroelectric Pump Storage plant will be held on two different Fridays in August.
The workshops will be offered from August 12 to September 20. Space is limited, and early registration is encouraged online at www.westshore.asapconnected.com or by calling 231-843-5825.
