West Shore Community College is excited to announce its upcoming Wilderness EMT (WEMT) module, a comprehensive 40-hour course designed for current EMTs, paramedics, and medical first responders. This intensive training will run from Sept. 3 to 7, with back-up dates scheduled for Oct. 7 to 11.
The WEMT module offers a unique opportunity for participants to enhance their skills in providing emergency medical care in backcountry environments. Those who successfully complete the course will receive 35 continuing education credits and be certified as Wilderness EMTs, an esteemed certification that distinguishes them in the field of wilderness emergency medicine.
Participants are invited to camp on the picturesque, nature-filled 365-acre campus of West Shore Community College. While camping equipment is not provided, the campus offers an immersive and conducive environment for learning and practicing wilderness EMT skills.
To ensure participants are well-nourished and can focus entirely on their training, breakfast and lunch are included in the cost of tuition. The total cost for the Wilderness EMT module is $1,200.

This course is ideal for those who are already EMTs or are concurrently enrolled in an EMT-Basic course, as well as paramedics and medical first responders who wish to expand their expertise into wilderness emergency medicine. This certification is highly valuable for professionals who aspire to work in remote or backcountry settings where traditional medical facilities are not readily accessible.
