On February 18, 2019, the Board approved Board Policy 6053 – Smoke-free and Tobacco-free Campus effective June 1, 2019.
This policy is intended to protect and enhance the indoor and outdoor air quality and to contribute to the health and well-being of all.
The board policy is included below:
No person shall smoke, chew, or otherwise use tobacco products and electronic smoking devices on property owned or leased by the College. This policy includes all vehicles leased or owned by the College, but excludes private vehicles.
Permissible exceptions to this policy are:
1. The use of tobacco products in a controlled laboratory environment approved in advance by the Chief Academic Officer or their designee.
2. The use of smoke or tobacco in connection with the practice of a cultural, spiritual, or religious ceremony approved in advance by the President.
