West Shore Community College’s Humankind series is pleased to host a virtual event titled “The Science of Loneliness and How to Combat It”, on Tues., Oct. 15 at 3:30 p.m. This event will be hosted in Zoom, and is free for all members of the community to join. The event will feature WSCC Professor of Biological Sciences Dr. Eric McLearon and WSCC Associate Professor of Psychology Dr. John Moore, who will discuss loneliness from medical and psychological perspectives, as well as ways to counter loneliness.
This discussion is a part of Humankind’s theme of the year, “Overcoming Loneliness: Togetherness, Connection, Community,” focused on understanding and combating loneliness.
“Loneliness is an important topic for us to understand, particularly in terms of its negative effects on our mental and physical health, and in terms of how we overcome it,” stated Moore.
Humankind is WSCC’s arts and culture series that consists of presentations, workshops, film series, art exhibitions, performing arts events, and more.
