Congressman Moolenaar Visits WSCC

On Thursday, Feb. 24, Congressman John Moolenaar toured West Shore Community College’s Tech Center, as well as the Riemer Regional Public Safety Center.
Congressman John Moolenaar represents the residents of Michigan’s Fourth Congressional District. He is currently a member of the House Appropriations Committee. With the redrawing of the districts in late 2021, much of the college service area falls into the Second Congressional District. Moolenaar has stated his intent to run for the Second Congressional District seat.
“It was a pleasure to showcase the college, the community and its many partners and collaborations to a U.S. Congressman,” stated WSCC President Scott Ward. “I am always proud to introduce and discuss the college’s role in the community.”
As a public servant, Moolenaar has been elected to the Midland City Council, the Michigan House of Representatives, and the Michigan Senate. Moolenaar was born and raised in Midland, where he now lives with his wife, Amy, and together they have raised six children. He has a bachelor’s degree in chemistry from Hope College and a master’s degree in Public Administration from Harvard University.
