Business and Community Education Classes Underway Now

Registration is underway for community members interested in West Shore Community College’s Business & Community Education (BCE) spring/summer season programming.

Community members can enroll online for upcoming events and workshops. Classes are categorized into business, community, “Fun for All,” and “Keepin’ It Fresh.”

The business classes include the popular Basic Grant Writing class, Excel for Beginners, as well as a Create Your Own Website course.  Even if you aren’t a beginner, each is designed to be a great refresher course.

Spend an hour over several Mondays learning a new language- American Sign Language.  Do you have a new driver on the road who needs to learn how to change a tire or oil?  Sign up for Basic Vehicle Maintenance with Career and Technical Education Instructor John Michilak.

In the month of June, spend Saturdays learning the basics of welding in the Hobby Welding course.  All of these particular workshops will fill up fast.

“Fun for All” is bringing back the popular Fly Fishing class.  Spend a weekend at the North Rivers Lodge in Manistee learning the basics to take advantage of the world renowned fly fishing in the area.

Not sure what to get mom for Mother’s Day?  Give her the bonding experience of painting together at the Mother’s Day Painting class.

“Keepin’ It Fresh” has several delicious cuisine exploration options including another Mother’s Day option of Cooking with Mom. Try the Camping Cuisine or Summertime Picnic to explore other fun options.

“We are excited to offer some new course this session, including the Vehicle Maintenance and Hobby Welding 101.  These are requests we have had in the past, and we hope people have the opportunity to try something new,” says Crystal Young, director of the Business Opportunity Center.

All classes and descriptions are available online and enrollment is now open. Classes run until June 30.
