Auditions for “Little Shop of Horrors”

West Shore Community College will be holding open auditions on Sun., Dec 16, and Mon., Dec. 17, at 6 p.m. for an upcoming production of the “Little Shop of Horrors.”
A deviously delicious Broadway and Hollywood sci-fi smash musical, “Little Shop of Horrors” has devoured the hearts of theatre goers for over 30 years. Howard Ashman and Alan Menken (Disney’s “The Little Mermaid,” “Beauty and the Beast,” and “Aladdin”) are the creative geniuses behind what has become one of the most popular shows in the world.
The meek floral assistant, Seymour Krelborn, stumbles across a new breed of plant he names “Audrey II” – after his coworker crush. This foul-mouthed, R&B-singing carnivore promises unending fame and fortune to the down and out Krelborn as long as he keeps feeding it blood. Over time, though, Seymour discovers Audrey II’s out of this world origins and intent towards global domination.
Production director Michelle Kiessel states those auditioning should come prepared to sing a song of his/her choice that demonstrates their vocal range and ability. Vocal auditions will be followed by a full group warm-up and reading from the book.
“It’s our goal to make the audition process fun and relaxed. We truly want to see the best everyone has to offer so we can put together the strongest and most cohesive cast possible,” said Kiessel.
Kiessel continued, “This show requires strong actor/singers who are willing to take risks and play in this campy, larger than life musical.”

The production will run February 22, 23 and March 1, 2, at 7:30 p.m. and February 24 and March 3 at 2 p.m.
