21st Annual High School Art Competition

The West Shore Community College (WSCC) Art Department is hosting the 21st annual Regional High School Art Competition and Exhibit, March 4 – 21, in the college’s Manierre Dawson Gallery.
A reception for the artists will be held on March 10, at 2:30 p.m., in the lobby near the gallery. The exhibit and reception are free and open to the public.
Sponsored by the WSCC Foundation and the Art Department, ribbons will be awarded for first and second place in jewelry, sculpture, pottery, drawing, painting, printmaking, photography, video, textiles, mixed media, and digital imaging.
Area high schools have been invited to enter ten of their students’ best works and those included in the exhibit have been selected by high school art teachers.
The juror for this year’s show is WSCC Professor Emeritus of Art Rebecca Mott.
Mott continues to teach ceramics part-time at the College. She was the lead person in developing and curating the annual Regional High School Art Competition and Exhibit for 20 years. Since her retirement, she has continued to support the college art programs as an educator.
The Manierre Dawson Gallery is located in the Arts and Sciences Center. Gallery hours are 9 a.m. – 4 p.m. Monday through Thursday, Friday from 9 a.m. – 1 p.m., and during events held in the Center Stage Theater.
