What do you want to be when you grow up?
What do you want to do?
More importantly, how are you going to decide?
These questions are more important today than ever before - and probably more difficult to answer. And, since the average person changes jobs seven to ten times and careers three times, the "What will I be?" question follows each of us throughout our lifetime. Knowing what questions to ask, and knowing where to look for answers, will make the process less stressful and more successful.
A recent Gallup survey indicated that 72 percent of all working adults would seek more information on career options if they were starting over. People are in the process of adapting to changing technologies by retraining. Lifelong learning is a necessity. We may also change careers because our own professional interests and personal desires have changed.
West Shore Community College has established the Career Services Office to assist you in this decision making process. Located in the WSCC Campus Center, the Career Career Services Office has the resources to help you:
1) Assess your interests, skills, and values. 2) Identify careers which match your assessment. 3) Explore career opportunities. 4) Plan a program of study for your chosen career.
