Corrections Academy

Corrections Academy

The 160-hour Corrections Academy typically runs each May. Participants receive the Michigan Sheriffs Coordinating and Training Council (MSCTC) curriculum. Those who successfully complete the academy are awarded a certificate from the MSCTC, and are eligible to work as corrections officers in Michigan jails.

In-service (employed) candidates are enrolled by their respective sheriff's departments. Pre-service candidates must apply for the academy and pass both fitness and written tests to be accepted.

Contact the Director for application information.
