Auditions for COLE – A Musical Review

West Shore Community College has announced the audition schedule for “Cole,” a musical about the king of musicals, Cole Porter.

Auditions will be held on Fri., April 15, from 6:30 - 9 p.m., and Saturday and Sunday, April 16 and 17 from 1- 4 p.m.

The musical will be presented on June 10, 11, and 18, at 7:30 p.m., and June 12 and 19, at 2 p.m.  The auditions and performances will be held in the Center Stage Theater on the WSCC campus.

WSCC Director of Theater Michael Mikula says he is looking for a number of vocally talented male and female singers for this production. “There are 47 songs in this production, so I hope to have a large turnout, for the auditions, as there will be plenty of music to go around.  All ages are welcomed and encouraged to audition.”

Benny Green and Alan Strachan have cleverly put together most of Cole’s hit tunes with a narration that tells the story of his life, from Yale to Paris to Manhattan to Broadway to Hollywood, and, ultimately, back once again to Broadway.  The production includes such Porter standards as “I Love Paris,” “Take Me Back to Manhattan,” “Love for Sale,”  “Night and Day,” and “I Get a Kick Out of You.”

The production support team includes Mikula as director and scenic designer, Phil DeYoung as musical director, Stage Manager Emily Hartrum, and Marty Cupp is the charge painter and scenic decorator.

Amanda Colleen is the resident lighting designer, Adam Knudsen, resident audio engineer, Matt Crescenzi, resident assistant audio engineer, and Susan Barnard is the costume designer.
